JP HARRIS ANNOUNCES LIMITED US SHOWS, RESCHEDULED UK-IRL-EU TOUR WITH JOHN R. MILLER

JP Harris has announce a limited amount of US appearances for 2022, starting with a country duo set at Nashville’s Musician’s Corner concert series on Sat., May 14th. He will also be performing with a full band on Fri., May 20th at The Basement, celebrating the new release by longtime friends Banditos; Kristina Murray and Justin & The Cosmics also appear.

For his first road date since 2019, JP plays with the full band at the first annual Schellraiser Festival in historic McGill, NV, June 2-4, alongside the Old 97’s, Nikki Lane, The Cactus Blossoms, and many more. Freshly-built “glamping” with full amenities, as well as nearby hotels, are still available. This is surely a first-year festival not to miss.

At the summer’s end, he will make one last full band appearance as he returns to Georgia for the boutique music festival and campout Wildwood Revival, Sept 30 - Oct 2, 2022, feat. Black Pumas, Jenny Lewis, John Moreland, and many more.

As promised, in early March of 2023, JP Harris’ Dreadful Wind & Rain will be returning to UK-IRL-EU alongside old friend and country-blues songwriter John R. Miller; this co-headline tour features both in duo form accompanied by fiddler Chloe Edmonstone, as well as a special set as a trio, worked up especially for this extensive overseas tour.

JP HARRIS' DREADFUL WIND & RAIN ANNOUNCES EU - UK - IRL TOUR in '22 W/ JOHN R MILLER

JP Harris has announced the first tour dates in over two years, as JP Harris’ Dreadful Wind & Rain, alongside friend and fellow songwriter John R Miller in February, March, and April of 2022. The two will both be accompanied by the fiddling of Chloe Edmonstone, longtime friend and Georgia native raised in the Appalachian old time music community.

With thirty three dates in eight countries, this will be one of the most extensive tours overseas that either JP or John have ever done, coming back across the pond in full force to deliver JP’s gothic Appalachian banjo ballads, and John’s timeless country songwriters’ blues. This will also be the first formal support touring behind JP’s new side project album Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man, which spent several weeks of 2020 on the Billboard Bluegrass Charts as well as the “most added” list across various radio charts.

The second single and music video from “Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man,” the debut album of JP’s old time side project JP Harris’ Dreadful Wind & Rain is streaming exclusively online at the esteemed Fretboard Journal.

An old and quirky ballad of disputed origin, Harris takes a subdued and dark approach in contrast to the oldest known recordings, accompanied by friend Chance McCoy on fiddle and backing vocals. The music video was filmed on a mild fall day at Narrows Of The Harpeth in Kingston Springs, TN.

ANNOUNCING JP HARRIS' DREADFUL WIND & RAIN, DEBUT ALBUM "DON'T YOU MARRY NO RAILROAD MAN"

Country singer JP Harris announces his old time side project debut, under the moniker JP Harris’ Dreadful Wind & Rain, “Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man.”

For many years prior to his country career, JP built and played fretless old time banjos, finding community in the somewhat-forgotten world of Appalachian stringband music. One of the enduring friendships from those days is with dear friend Chance McCoy, who engineered, produced, and fiddled on this album, at his homestead in the remote mountains of southeastern West Virginia in the summer of 2020.

This album will be officially released June 25th via Free Dirt Records, available on all formats. LP/vinyl is limited to 500 hand numbered, gold foil stamped copies, and includes two exclusive bonus tracks with the download card, unavailable anywhere else. Preorder while they’re still hot off the press!

The first single and music video is up now on The Boot filmed at Cook’s Old Mill in Greenville, WV. In JP’s words: “this is old time music; it’s not polished or pitch-perfect, it’s not tailored for radio airplay...this is me at my truest and rawest, singing songs of death, deceit, and the devil from the 18th and 19th centuries, playing an archaic and outdated style of banjo. Some of y’all may like it and some of y’all won’t, but it’s honest.”

JP HARRIS RELEASES "TAKE OFF YOUR TIN FOIL HAT" AMIDST NATIONAL TURMOIL

A few days before Christmas, JP Harris hummed himself a melody and penned a tongue-in-cheek tune about the increasing prominence of disinformation, conspiracies, and the wildly innacuarte claims of “fake news” surrounding both the COVID-19 pandemic and the US election.

On Christmas morning at 6:30 AM, he was awoken by the detonation of one of the largest car bombs in American history, blowing a fireball high above the Nashville skyline just a few miles away. It spurred him to finish what was originally a cathartic, inward exercise, and to record a video of the song on New Year’s Day that was released via his social media channels. Serendipitously, the video went viral (being reposted by none other than pop star P!nk) and at the behest of many friends and fans, JP rushed into the studio to record a full band version shortly thereafter.

JP Harris says, “this song isn’t so much about individual conspiracy theories or movements, extremist political factions, doomsday nut jobs, or the insanity of Trumpist Republicanism, but rather about the absurdity of where the age of  the internet and intentional disinformation has landed us.”

The song is now available to stream or purchase on all platforms, and is the first new release since 2018.
